Prototype

Below is my prototype for my problem of  "How can Computer Science be Incorporated into the Common Core State Standards".  The solution that I decided to use was using Khan Academy to produce content area projects. I used StoryboardThat to create my prototype.

  3. Are you only going to focus on coding?
I really like your idea of a time line to when you will finish your completion on implementing it into your classroom. Are there other programs you can use just in case some students have a hard time with Kahn Academy?
http://www.programmingbasics.org/en/ I found this website you use it with a personal computer. Do they have access to computers or I Pads? I think you did a really great job, explaining your problem and story board.

  4. As of right now the main focus will be coding basics. I think down the line getting more in depth would be great, but with the number of free (and easy) coding programs out there this is the best start. I was also looking at Scratch (Google CS First offers some great tutorial videos) and CodeAcademy. There are a lot more out there(Stencyl, Code Monster, and Kodable), but I have not really used those as much. I will have to check out the website you shared since I have never used that one either! We do have access to computer labs, but we are not a one-to-one school.
Thank you so much for your feedback!

  5. I think using Khan Academy to produce content area projects is a great way to integrate Computer Science into the Common Core content. If CS is not being taught independently, this is a good route to take. It will allow students to take what they’ve been learning and demonstrate it in a novel way. It will also allow for the projects to be a link between various subjects. We know that linking knowledge across the curriculum is crucial in building students’ body of knowledge about the world. This sounds like a good plan.
